The staff at Community Action House makes every effort to treat all people with respect and fairness, and to provide knowledgeable, culturally competent services to members of the community. As a client, you have the right to receive services that you are eligible for; we cannot always provide every service for every client, but whenever possible, we will provide referrals and information about alternative community resources.
Community Action House provides free classes to community members interested in learning more about financial management, first-time homebuyer, or home maintenance education. Classes are facilitated by certified, trained staff and presenters from local banking institutions are also invited to provide participants with specialized information based on class topics. Financial management classes include: developing a spending plan, credit, debt reduction, savings, consumer protection, and long-term financial planning. First-time homebuyer classes include: affordability, taxes, real estate, home inspections, mortgages and insurance. Home maintenance education classes include: landscaping, electrical and furnace maintenance, plumbing, painting and wall repair.
Classes are open to the general public, but participants must attend all weeks of the class in order to receive a certificate of completion. On the first night of class, participants may have to provide a copy of their photo id and proof of income for the last 30 days.
