The SpartanNash Retail Scan to End Hunger took place this year between Aug. 30 and Sept. 10, during which $4,200 was donated by patrons during checkout at the Butternut Family Fare and Holland D&W. The teams at both stores chose to support Community Action House of Holland, Michigan, which provides 75,000 hot meals annually at the Community Kitchen, a part of larger programs which provide over 300,000 meals every year.
For years, the Holland D&W has provided bread and baked goods to support hunger relief efforts at Community Action House. Each week, volunteer van drivers make a stop to pick up food items from the store, delivering them to locations serving people seeking help with food including two food pantry locations, monthly food distributions, and the Community Kitchen.
We're so grateful to Holland's D&W and Family Fare Shoppers, and to those stores and SpartanNash Foundation - this donation goes a long way in providing the life-changing programs we work so hard for here at Community Action House!
