Support Affordable Housing in Holland!
As many of you know, there are two affordable housing developments proposed for Holland. One geared towards workforce housing has been proposed on River Ave between 7th and 8th Streets in Holland and the other would provide much needed Senior housing on the corner of 16th and River. These developments will offer appropriately priced housing for our neighbors. The locations are ideal - close to transportation, downtown parks, the Farmer's Market and other amenities.
Please consider attending one or all of the meetings taking place in the next week to offer your support for the projects.
Holland City Planning Commission: Tuesday, August 14, 4 PM Study Session and Planning Commission 5 PM at Holland City Hall
Holland City Council: Wednesday, August 15, 7PM, Holland City Hall
If you live and/or work in Holland City please take the opportunity to share your support for the projects during the Public Comment period. You may have just a couple of minutes to speak.
Here are some talking points:
- The desire is that everyone, our neighbors, relatives, co-workers, home health care providers, teachers, factory workers and baristas in our community have the opportunity to share in the benefits Holland has to offer (i.e. Centennial Park, Hope College Events, Farmer's Market, access to public transportation, Kollen Park).
- Affordable housing results in a more stable and long-term employment.
- Provides housing for the local workforce and offers housing choice.
- Increases regional competitiveness by lowering housing cost and increasing employee retention.
