A Place to Call Home
Housing Within Reach
Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.
Dwelling Place and Community Action House are collaborating to construct a community-informed, mixed-income affordable housing development in downtown Holland. Spread across three properties currently owned by Action House, the City of Holland, and Hope Church, the developments will add 52 units of urgently needed affordable rental housing for our community. This project represents broad community collaboration, and a shared commitment to ensuring that more of our neighbors have a safe, affordable place to call home.
While our community has already made big progress to expand homeownership options and market- rate rental housing, there has been limited progress in addressing the most pressing levels of affordable housing need. A recent Housing Needs Assessment projected that as of 2025, Ottawa County needs up to 4,385 rental units to meet demand with 1,421 of those units being in the most affordable category.
These families deserve a place to call home, but meeting this level of affordability is only possible with a competitive state financing award and generous community philanthropy. This project aims to bridge that gap by creating high-quality, affordable rental housing targeted towards those most at risk of being priced out of our community.
What would you give for a Place to Call Home?
Our community’s generosity can place affordable housing within reach for families who are struggling.
Working closely with Housing Next, this effort has already been awarded highly competitive state tax credit financing that makes high-quality housing like this feasible. With 93% of the project costs covered, we need our community to help close the remaining gap - just $23,077 per unit. With a one-time philanthropic investment, community members can help provide 45+ years of high-quality, affordable housing for a neighbor or family in need, creating transformative, long-term change for our neighbors.
