O’ Snack the Snake returns for the fifthteenth annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration & Parade in Downtown Holland on Saturday, March 16. The 32 foot inflatable snake is among many additions parade organizers have made to commemorate St. Patrick since its start in 2004, including authentic Irish flags representing various regions in the country, bagpipers, costumes, Irish dancers, and long-time collaboration between Downtown eateries and businesses. The parade begins at noon on starting at the Eighth Street Marketplace, and travels east on Eighth Street, disbanding between the Curragh Irish Pub and New Holland Pub on 8th.
Holland’s annual celebration draws over 3,000 participants, and is known for an eclectic group of walkers and celebrants alike. Walkers are encouraged to register by completing an entry form available at the parade’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/HollandMI2019. Families (including friendly canines) and individuals wearing green are invited to carry Irish flags in the parade - a limited number of flags will be available at no charge. As in past years, donations of canned fruits and vegetables will be collected during the celebrations, and may be dropped off at New Holland’s Pub on 8th after the parade.
The community is also invited to partake once again in the St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt organized by Community Action House. Celebrants of all ages are invited to hunt printed "Pots of Gold" hidden around Downtown Holland to fill in clues on entry sheets available starting at 11am on Saturday March 16 at New Holland Brewing Company, the Curragh Irish Pub, and Big E's. The winners will receive prizes including gift cards to local Downtown Holland businesses, as well as a $500 donation made on their behalf to benefit Community Action House’s hunger relief and homeless outreach programs.
The 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration is made possible by generous local support, including 2019 Headline Sponsor Old National Bank.
