The great people at Midici in Holland are supporting local hunger-relief efforts this year by donating 15% of all proceeds to Community Action House on #GivingTuesday this year - the biggest day of giving worldwide which raised $177 million last year!
The Holland Sentinel reported in the Sunday 11/12/2017 edition about some of the efforts to connect people experiencing homelessness with local resources. Part of the story comes from CAH's Associate Director, Jennifer Boerman. "With snow coming in, we're kind of re-engaging them. Some have been homeless for years. They are bracing for winter."
On two special days during the campaign, December 8 and 9, Meijer will double their contribution, turning a contribution of $10 into $30 of support of local hunger relief programs, up to $25,000 in total contributions.
Melissa has worked tirelessly with her team to improve the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables available to those seeking hunger relief at CAH's food pantry programs. CAH has also been able to offer a stocked dairy section including milk, eggs, and butter through their efforts. The goal: healthy food for all, regardless of economic situation.
From October through December of each year, we look to all of you to mobilize those around you by hosting Holiday Donation Drives - collecting food, personal hygiene items, much needed financial support, and raising awareness of the challenges faced by 11% of Ottawa County that experience the effects of poverty and hunger.
BIGGBY® COFFEE, along with Community Action House and Feeding America West Michigan, will be collecting non-perishable foods to help individuals and families who are facing food insecurity this holiday season.
